Plaquenil What You Need to Know. Contents What is Plaquenil? Other than Plaquenil, what are the other antimalarial drugs. Hydroxychloroquine is a relatively safe medication but it is recommended to have regular monitoring by an ophthalmologist eye doctor while taking this drug. shaking, rapid heartbeat, tingling in the hands/feet. Anxiety and Plaquenil. I have nerve involvement and essential tremor, so before bed I take a Primidone tablet and lovely Rivotil drops again for dose regulation. My neurologist prescribed these for tremor but he noted many lupus patients have trouble sleeping and the Rivotil give me a solid 8 hours and calm demeanor. Took a while to get. Three anti-malarial drugs are prescribed for lupus symptoms. Hydroxychloroquine Plaquenil is the most commonly prescribed because it is generally believed to cause fewer side effects; chloroquine Aralen has a reputation for more serious side effects, but it may be prescribed in situations where hydroxychloroquine cannot be used.

For example, it may be combined with an antibiotic to treat chronic Q-fever, which humans usually catch from farm animals or raw milk. Plaquenil is used to treat other types of infections too.

Hi, I've been diagnosed with Hashimoto's for about 8 months now. My TSH at it's highest was 8. My antibodies were pretty high. I've been on a variety of meds and nothing seemed to really help me. I'd get my energy up, but then eye twitches, hand tremors and heart palps would get me. And then I I have SLE, I am taking plaquenil, was on steroids 1 1/2 months, off now for 1 month. Usually around 4-5am, I start getting tremors. I get up at 6am for work. Most of the time I can do deep breathing exercises and they will go away but sometimes they last a little longer. Side Effects. Drug information provided by IBM Micromedex Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.
