    Plaquenil and pain relief

I didn't seem to have any problems whatsoever with it initially, other than very short term and mild cramping/diarrhea. But now I've been dealing with considerable muscle aching and pain/spasm in some new places - or at least places that haven't bothered me in quite awhile.

Muscle aches is found among people who take Plaquenil, especially for people who are female, 60+ old, have been taking the drug for 1 month, also take medication Enbrel, and have Pain. Polymyalgia rheumatica is a form of arthritis. It causes pain in the joints and muscles of the lower back, thighs, hips, neck, shoulder and upper arms, and other parts of the body. The condition occurs when the lining surrounding the joints, bursa and tendons near the shoulders and hips becomes inflamed. Hydroxychloroquine Plaquenil, chloroquine Aralen, and quinacrine Atabrine are medications that were originally used to prevent or treat malaria. However, during World War II it was also found that these medications were effective in treating the symptoms of lupus.

I felt the Plaquenil helped the fatigue, but it seems the pain is sabotaging that effect. My knees and legs hurt, back, hips, shoulders, fingers, and now my left heel - which has me limping half the time.

What can Hydroxychloroquine Plaquenil do to my eyes? The actual incidence of retinal toxicity from hydroxychloroquine is difficult to pin down because there is usually a long time between being started on the drug and the start of any identifiable retinal toxicity. The overall rate of probable retinal toxicity is in the range of 1 of every 200 people treated.
