    Can i stop taking plaquenil

My doctor had me discontinue it immediately, no weaning. He warned that it stays in your system for a really long time so the vision loss could continue to progress.

Mar 24, 2011 Had headaches with the plaquenil so went to the sulfar and predisone. Sulfar was a waste of time and since I had a little help from the plaquenil he switched me back to that with pain meds for the headaches and body. Recently i went back for app. and plaquenil had stopped doing anything so he added the methotrexate to it. I did not want to take it. Aug 29, 2014 One of the reasons that physicians feel comfortable in prescribing Plaquenil is its low risk to benefit ratio. This means that the side effects of Plaquenil are mild and infrequent compared with its potential benefits. As with any medication, allergic reactions including skin rashes and non-allergic reactions can occur. Stop taking hydroxychloroquine and call your doctor at once if you have trouble focusing, if you see light streaks or flashes in your vision, or if you notice any swelling or color changes in your eyes. What should I discuss with my health care provider before taking hydroxychloroquine Plaquenil, Plaquenil Sulfate, Quineprox?

11 months later went back on Hydroxychloriquine and all my symptoms disappeared as the meds took effect. I was fortunate in that they caught the vision loss early so it improved after a year off of the medicine. I discontinued Hydroxychloriquine seven years and had severe problems with inflammation within 2weeks all over my body especially the pancreas.

If you don't have to, don't stop your plaquenil. I stopped taking the plaquenil the beginning of December. It doesn't agree with my stomach I take it with meals too. And since I hadn't had a miraculous recovery the 6 months I'd been on it, I didn't think there was any harm in stopping it. I recently decided to stop taking Plaquenil because I was having constant chest pains even more so than I usually have due to Lupus. Since I have not taken it my chest feels so much better which is odd because chest pain is not listed as a side effect. Also I noticed that the Plaquenil I think was making me feel different but not in a good way. Aug 28, 2012 How long does it take for imuran and plaquenil hydroxychloroquine to completely leave your system if you stop them after taking thrm for 1 month. Dr. Stated plaquenil hydroxychloroquine could also be the reason for my vertigo - could vertigo really start 8 months after taking it? I don't want to stop this drug.
